Meet the team:
Nicholas Kaufmann

Today we would like to introduce Dr Nicholas Kaufmann, Senior Research Engineer at SCHOTTEL Marine Technologies. His role includes the planning, supervision and evaluation of test campaigns as well as the coordination of the certification process of the Swift Anchor technology with DNV.

Nicho graduated in mechanical engineering from the RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau, Germany, in 2015. As a research assistant at the Institute of Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics at the Universität Siegen, Nicho specialised in optimising the hydrodynamic design of tidal stream turbines.

After completing his PhD, he joined SCHOTTEL HYDRO in February 2019 and was amongst others responsible for rotor blade development, from hydrodynamic design and load simulations to the coordination of structural design and blade manufacturing.

What does he like best about his role at SCHOTTEL Marine Technologies? “I can continue to work in a renewable energy environment, using the experience I have gained over the past few years. This is important for me: not only just to change something, but to also preserve or even improve it in a sustainable manner for future generations. I enjoy making a meaningful contribution in an exciting and forward-facing environment with a great team.”

In his free time, the 37-year-old enjoys spending time with his wife, meeting friends, being active outdoors and renovating his house and garden.

Happy to have you at SCHOTTEL Marine Technologies, Nicho!
