Anchoring For A More Sustainable Future

At SCHOTTEL Marine Technologies, we have set ourselves the goal of implementing the sustainable world of tomorrow today. Not only do we create awareness for the responsible use of our environment’s resources in everyday life on a small scale, but we also make a significant contribution to accelerating the energy transition with our environmentally conscious products and services.

Deeply Anchored Commitment

For this reason, we are not only committed to achieving ecological goals, but also social and economic goals. This is fundamental to the company’s business ethic and is carried through to the manner in which our activities and operations are conducted by our staff and contractors. We will also aim to support our clients to do the same.

Ecological Goals
esp. expansion of renewable energies, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and responsible use of resources

Social Goals
esp. employee satisfaction, humane working conditions within the supply chain

Economic Goals
long-term, sensible management that focuses on maximising profits as well as the well-being of society and the environment

Product Carbon Footprint

To embed sustainability and responsibility in our business, we implement many different measures day by day. One example in this respect is the calculation of the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) for our anchors. How much greenhouse gas emissions are associated with our anchor along its lifecycle? This question has become increasingly important over the past years. The Product Carbon Footprint helps to find answers.

We at SCHOTTEL Marine Technologies are developing a method to calculate the PCF of our anchoring systems. This will provide us with a suitable basis for determining, balancing and verifying greenhouse gas emissions that arise along the value chain of the anchor. In doing so, it is in line with the standards for lifecycle analysis and significantly contributes to the achievement of the United Nations (UN) Goal 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.

Following the calculation of the carbon footprint, we will use the results to identify problematic emission sources within the product lifecycle and to target future PCF reduction measures accordingly.

Supporting the UNited nations Sustainable Development Goals

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. Our prioritised Sustainable Development Goals are implemented in our strategy, our culture and how we are operating our company:

  • #7 Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all
  • #13 Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
  • #14 Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development
